Responsibilities
As a Program Support Clerk for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Debt Management Center you will:
Perform work in a wide range of systematized supply operations at two locations.
Perform records functions in inventory, storage, cataloging, receipt, inspection, and control processes.
Oversees stock levels and establishes or adjust stock levels and reorder points.
Conduct physical inventories to adjust and/or maintain inventory, stock, or property account records.
Maintain equipment records for employees authorized for telework; when employees leave this data are key to ensuring that all equipment is returned.
Receive and screens requests or other documents specifying supplies or materials needed for planned programs, staff additions and work operations, and collects and assembles lists of equipment and parts needed for acquisition plans.
Initiate, prepare, edit, and process requisitions to stock, commodity control, or other appropriate supply operations.
Contact customers, supply organizations, transportation units, and others to obtain material status information, follows up on urgently required items to expedite delivery of material to work sites.
Driver -makes regular mail and supply trips to the Burger Building, St. Paul (approximately 13 miles from Debt Management Center (DMC) primary location). Also has the responsibility of vehicle reporting and maintenance, logs, GSA reporting of monthly and annual vehicle data and screening of other drivers to ensure safe operation of government vehicles.
Has a thorough knowledge of all printing, fax and reproduction equipment used in the DMC. Responsible for assembling monthly photocopy count data. Maintains over 30 printers/copiers/faxes; performs minor repairs and maintenance, coordinates major repairs with service technicians, ensures adequate toner and paper levels to avoid down time.
Work Schedule: Regular office hours 08:00 AM - 04:30 PM; Alternate work schedules may be available.
Promotion Potential: There is no promotion potential for this position.

Must have a valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending or carrying of light items such as papers and books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Note: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-04) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves (1) Experience with commonly applied supply rules, procedures, or operations requiring high attention to detail. (2) Proficiency in prioritizing and analyzing a number of concurrent tasks. (3) Examines the paperwork and records associated with receiving, storing, issuing, replenishing, or inventorying commonly used administrative supplies and equipment. (4) Knowledge of Security of documents containing personal information under the Privacy Act and general knowledge of security requirements for key and lock controls. (5) Knowledgeable in customer service. (6) Ability to safely operate a Motor Vehicle.
Or applicants may substitute education for the experience required to qualify at the GS-05 level: with successful completion of four (4) years of education above the high school level.
Or Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-05 level. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned. When substituting, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e. beyond the second year) is creditable. Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-05. (1) For example, an applicant who has 75 semester hours of education (i.e. 15 semester hours beyond the second year, which is the equivalent of 25% of the required education) and has 9 months of specialized experience, would have the 1 year combination required for the position.
