Who May Apply:- U.S. Citizen students who are currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment on at least a half-time basis at a qualifying accredited educational institution in a certificate, degree, or diploma program.

The Pathways Program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. Students who successfully complete the program may be eligible for conversion to a permanent job in the civil service. This position starts at a salary of $26,150 (GS-03, Step 01) to $33,999 (GS-03, Step 10).
As a Student Trainee, you will be assigned to a senior specialist or group of specialists. You will be assigned tasks designed to familiarize you with different aspects of the occupation. Tasks will vary depending on the senior specialist's current workload, but may include the following:
- Recording and filing information on cases, projects and/or studies in established filing system;
- Developing detailed schedules to compare Importer data to entry documents;
- Coordinating and scheduling meetings between U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Importer Representatives;
- Reviewing previous audit reports and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data to assist audit team with audit planning and preparation;
- Using office computer and applicable software programs to produce a wide variety of narrative and tabular materials, e.g., correspondence, reports, graphics, calendars, charts, statistical tables and other various forms and documents.
