About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York's picturesque North Country, one of the most historically unique and geographically beautiful areas of the United States, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.
You will provide office automation support and perform both procedural and substantive clerical work for the organization. Use word processing and other types of software (spreadsheets, database, graphics, etc.) to process and produce a wide range of documents, such as routine correspondence; simple charts, graphs, tables, or other similar material. Collect data from various source documents, files, and staff personnel; compile information including narratives and tabulations, in proper format for presentation; assure correctness, consistency, and completeness. Obtain and assemble records, reports, documents and charts for use in meeting and conferences. Provide information where such information is a matter of record. Refer requests for technical information to appropriate personnel. Receive visitors and telephone calls; refer to proper person or furnish information requested. Route, control, and distribute mail. Maintain files involving numerous subject headings and subheadings.
Must be willing to work shift work, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. General Experience is defined as: one year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled such as: 1) working with computer software programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. 2) operating office equipment, such as, multi-line phone, copiers, facsimile machine, printer, etc. and; 3) creating general correspondence using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: To qualify based on education, applicants must possess one of the following: Two years of higher education above High School. (NOTE: Transcripts are required at the time of application).
OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.) (Note: You must attach a copy of your college transcripts.)
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of Office Automation Functions
2. Knowledge of Clerk Duties
3. Ability to Communicate in Writing
4. Ability to Communicate Orally
