The Locksmith position will be located at the Department of Veterans Affairs New York Harbor, New York, NY. Duties include but are not limited to the following;
Install, maintain and repair locks, fastening devices and hardware;
Adjust all key-operated and combination locks, fastening devices and door hardware;
Install and replace mortise locks, dead bolts, slide bolts, panic hardware and electromechanical locks;
Perform periodic preventive maintenance, inspection and testing on all locks and locking devices to ensure proper operation and minimum failure rates;
Fabricate or modify defective lock parts and fastening devices and hardware to return to proper operational configuration;
Fabricate and/or duplicate keys using machines or impressions or make keys from manufactures codes to meet organizational needs insuring smooth and proper operational locks;
Reconfigure keys and re-keys locks by adding, removing, or shortening various sizes or tumblers.
Remove broken keys from locks and locking mechanisms;
Rotate locks and/or locking mechanism as required by current regulations, ensuring security requirements are fully satisfied;
Change combinations on all combination locks in accordance with current security regulations; and
Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8AM - 4:30PM
