These positions are Full Time temporary positions NTE 1 year. Appointment to this position will not confer permanent status in the Federal service.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee
Duties
This position assists higher graded maintenance workers or tradesmen in the performance of their work; Performs routine maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, equipment and related utilities; Receives, unloads and processes incoming shipments according to established procedures and reports discrepancies and damage of incoming shipments to others responsible for such items; Operates a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites while assisting on project work; Operates a forklift to load and unload supplies and light equipment not requiring special rigging; Operate work vehicles in heavily congested areas such as campgrounds and picnic areas; Performs minor carpentry repairs using simple measures and hand tools on such tasks as replacing broken planks on picnic tables; Performs minor painting using brush and roller according to specific instructions, such as staining picnic tables and trash barrels; Performs minor plumbing repairs such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures; Performs routine maintenance on campground sites and trails using hand tools to re-grade and reset barriers to restore areas to original appearances; Collects trash and cleans and services restrooms, campground, trails or visitor facilities; Uses hand tools and power tools such hammer, saw, brush, roller, screwdriver, wrench, electric drill/saw, gas power equipment and other power tools safely. Performs snow removal.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
SCREEN OUT FACTOR: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker WG 4749 05, without more than normal supervision.
The incumbent must be able to perform the full range of maintenance worker duties associated with carpentry, painting, plumbing, custodial duties and other trades appropriate to this position. One must have the ability to accomplish work assignments in a safe manner, and knowledge of a variety of technical terminology, tools, and equipment. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most Wage Grade positions, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of this position. Qualification requirements emphasize the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Appointment will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation. Under the requirements of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), all new Federal Employees must pass a background investigation. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. Prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year thereafter (or more frequently if management determines such need exists), you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying to your possession of a valid State issued driver's license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified in any way to prohibit your operation of a motor vehicle. You will also submit a photocopy of your valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists. Lastly, you may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. Please indicate in your application whether you possess a valid State driver's license.
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
This is an emergency essential position. You may be required to work alternative work schedules, on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
