Summary

About the Agency

The selectee for this position will serve as a Maintenance Assistant (Office Automation) in the Support Services Branch, Research and Development Services Division of the Naval Research Laboratory located in Washington, DC. The Branch is responsible for the execution of mission essential laboratory renovations, repairs, and maintenance, including procurement of necessary materials and equipment. This position is responsible for scheduling public works services and maintenance as well as providing administrative support related to services and maintenance.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

• Screen and schedule Service Call requests from the laboratory and field sites and ensure completion of work;
• Enter, add or manipulate data in online databases related to Service Call requests and analyze completed service requests by creating reports using office automation software;
• Make independent determinations of time requirement for work requests;
• Facilitate and support completion of timely Service Call Requests orders through oral and written communication.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NC-01 (GS 1-4) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector performing the majority of the following duties: (1) screening and scheduling work requests for services; (2) maintaining database of statistics for analysis of work completed; (3) creating reports of completed work requests; (4) determining the length of each service; and (5) assisting management in analysis of the quality and timeliness of services.

You have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level in any field leading to a bachelor's degree or you possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
-OR-
You have some specialized experience as described above but less than one year, and have post-high school education as described above in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) that totals at least one year. Note: One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
