This position of ELECTRONIC MEDIA SPECIALIST (WEB) starts at a salary of $54,972 , GS-09 step 1 grade level, to $86,460 , GS-11 step 10 grade level, with promotion potential to GS-12 step 10 grade level.

Duties

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence, and limited complexity.

As a ELECTRONIC MEDIA SPECIALIST (WEB), you will:

• Work with Office of Security and Integrity (OSI) divisions to design, develop, and maintain SharePoint pages that educate and inform the USCIS and Office of Security and Integrity (OSI) workforce; serves as managing editor for content on various OSI intranet sites, deciding what and how information is published to include writing and editing content as needed.
• Facilitate discussions with Office of Security and Integrity (OSI) leadership and divisions to develop appropriate content for OSI audience. Works with Office of Security and Integrity (OSI) divisions to determine the best way to present information (whether through web pages, documents, or other options); ensures content is of the highest quality, and determines layout and format that conforms to the guidelines and precedents for USCIS publishing. Work closely with office and directorate leadership to ensure content is updated according to USCIS standards.
• Work with process owner and customers to build pages for collecting, analyzing, and/or communicating information using SharePoint technology effectively.
• Plan, organize and conduct team studies for improvements to OSI intranet sites, analyzes findings, and persuades or negotiates effectively with OSI divisions and management to accept recommendations.
• Develop a maintenance plan and regularly reviews OSI's intranet content to ensure material is up-to-date.

Qualifications

GS-09: You qualify at the GS-09 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to the GS-07 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:

• Assisting senior specialists in developing intranet websites and intranet content (e.g., Microsoft SharePoint);
• Writing and editing intranet content for a wide range of audiences;
• Providing support to the office to ensure intranet content is updated according to organization policy and standards, and is of the highest quality. OR
• You may substitute a Master's degree or two full years of graduate education leading to such a degree in any field or a J.D. or L.L.B., for experience required at the GS-09 grade level. Such education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours.

GS-11: In Addition to the requirements at the lower grade level(s), to qualify at the GS-11 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to the GS-09 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:

• Managing intranet websites and creating intranet content, (e.g., Microsoft SharePoint);
• Working with leadership to decide what and how information is published on organization webpages;
• Working with other divisions within the organization to determine the best way to present information to audiences. OR
• You may substitute a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent degree) or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in any field, or L.L.M. if related for experience at the GS-11 grade level. Such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise three years of graduate study. If that information is not available, use 54 semester or 81 quarter hours.
