About the Position:
The United States Military Entrance Processing Command (US MEPCOM), with headquarters at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Great Lakes (North Chicago), IL, is a joint service command under the direction of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Military Personnel Policy and is staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 65 Military Entrance Processing Stations, determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services. The Des Moines Military Entrance Processing Station is located in Johnston, IA, a city in Polk County, Iowa, United States. The population was 17,278 in the 2010 census, an increase of almost 100% from the 8,649 population in the 2000 census. It is part of the Des Moines/West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area. Johnston is the location of the headquarters of Pioneer Hi-Bred Seeds, Iowa Public Television, and The Gardeners of America/Men's Garden Clubs of America. Also located here are the Camp Dodge Military Reservation as well as the Paul J. and Ida Trier House, a private residence designed by famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Johnston was established in 1905 as a station on the interurban railway between Des Moines and Perry known as Johnston Station. It was named for the railway's freight supervisor, John F. Johnston.

Duties
As a Testing Clerk, you will be responsible for the following:
Conducting military enlistment aptitude and qualification examinations
Briefing applicants regarding testing procedures.
Distributing and proctoring examinations.
Performing quality control of examination and applicable applicant information.
Scoring enlistment and high school Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) using an Optical Mark Reader (OMR) scanner.

Assisting in conducting testing material inventories
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, such as: Assisting in conducting and proctoring examinations for applicants at a testing site; Briefing applicants on examination procedures/directions to ensure understanding, Conducting scoring of examinations and compiling test results and information into a centralized reporting system; Safe guarding testing materials to ensure no loss or compromise of testing materials.
Education Substitution for Specialized Experience at GS-05: Successful completion of at least four years above high school. (Must provide a copy of your transcripts.)
Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-05: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of undergraduate education in excess of 60 hours (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. (Must provide a copy of your transcripts.)

This is a Career Program (CP) 51 position.
Security (NS) Clearance: This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personal security background investigation prior to entry into position.
Must be in possession of or have ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
Selectee will be required to conduct test sessions at remote sites, to include administration of high school test at inner city, rural, and/or at risk schools with large populations (greater than 100 students).
This position requires working occasional evenings or rotating shifts.
