The incumbent works a day shift (0800-1630) on a Monday-Friday Schedule and will be assigned to an AOP-Operations team.

Duties
The incumbent:
- Assists with the Gallery’s temporary parking program coordination.
- Provides procedural clarifications and recommends policy or procedural changes to the Assistant Chief and Parking Coordinator for the efficiency of the Gallery’s parking program.
- Coordinates the maintenance and washing of AOP’s patrol vehicles at the direction of the AOP-Operations CORs responsible for the respective contracts.
- When on duty as a SPO, incumbent serves at stationary posts or patrols heavily trafficked public areas or locations that are vulnerable to crime against persons, theft, vandalism and damage.
- Enforces a wide variety of Federal and local laws, National Gallery of Art rules, including traffic and parking regulations to ensure the welfare and safety of visitors and employees of the National Gallery of Art and to protect priceless and irreplaceable works of art.
- Conducts preliminary investigations that require the taking of notes and preparing reports.
- On all assignments, the incumbent is alert for unusual conditions and incidents, immediately investigates and assesses abnormal conditions, and initiates appropriate action to cope with the situation.
- May be required to secure buildings, sounds alarms, detain violators, call for police assistance or take other appropriate action.
- To control access into the Gallery, incumbent may deny admission to undesirable or unauthorized persons, prevent unauthorized removal of Gallery property, answer inquiries from visitors, and aid persons in distress.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
