The Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" MWR products and services for America's Army, essential to a ready, self-reliant force.

The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is those affiliated with the Fort Polk Installation only. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) Preference eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)

This position is located at the DFMWR/Community Recreation Divisions, Swimming Pools on Fort Polk.

Duties

Acts as water safety instructor. Manages all swimming lessons and instructs when scheduled, at the assigned aquatics facility. Develops swim program according to students' ability and promotes students to higher level of swimming according to their skills. Instructs all levels of swimming and appropriate strokes, to include; front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly. Teach students from age groups of infant through adults. Introduces and instructs safety and survival skills to students, when appropriate to level of instruction. Instructors work with lifeguards to ensure that swim lessons are safe at all times.

Qualifications

Work experience related to the duties described above and possession of the following certificates:
1. Water Safety Instructor Certification
2. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
3. First Aid Certification
(Certification issued by the American Red Cross, Ellis @ Associates, Star Guard or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable)

HIGHLY DESIRABLE:

• Possession of a Lifeguard Certification

Water Safety Instructor, CPR and First Aid Certificates are required.

Conditions of Employment:

8. May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
9. Work hours may involve days, nights, weekends and holidays.
10. Satisfactory completion of all required background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13 is required.
