Duties
You will serve as an Office Automation Assistant providing clerical and administrative support duties for the Chief Joseph Dam Project Office. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Use word processing, spreadsheet, graphics and database programs to develop and maintain reports.
Prepare a variety of material in final form from rough draft, brief written or oral instructions with responsibility for proper format, conformance with procedural instructions, grammar, typographical accuracy and necessary attachments.
Establish and maintain correspondence, contract and technical reference files in accordance with the Army Records Information Management System (ARIMS).
Verify data on computer printouts to ensure accuracy.
Obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: performing office support services such as using computer programs to store and retrieve data, preparing/reviewing correspondence, and maintaining reference files.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
KNOWLEDGE OF OFFICE SOFTWARE
SKILL IN ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
SKILL IN CUSTOMER SERVICE
ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE
ABILITY TO USE ANALYTICAL REASONING AND PROBLEM SOLVING
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below: For the GS-05 grade level: Have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level leading to a bachelor's degree. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
Combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience described above may be used to meet total qualification requirements at the GS-05 level.
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
