Duties
The incumbent serves as a Drug and Alcohol Compliance and Enforcement Inspector in the Office of Aerospace Medicine’s Drug Abatement Division located in Hawthorne, CA. He/She will apply basic knowledge and conduct comprehensive compliance and enforcement investigations and inspections throughout the United States and it's territories to determine industry compliance with the drug and alcohol testing regulations. Prepare comprehensive reports on findings and identifies corrective action(s) required to resolve the drug and alcohol testing violation detected.
.Establishes and maintains liaison with Flight Standards and Civil Aviation Security and when required, law enforcement officials to assure compliance and enforcement of drug and alcohol regulations.
Physical Demands: Work is primarily sedentary and performed in an office setting and at field sites of regulated parties. Such field visits may require the incumbent to walk through hangers and workshops. Incumbent will also be required to carry a laptop computer and/or a printer which may weigh up to 20 pounds. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: - Travel of more than 50% is required. Potential applicants must also be able to obtain and retain a Government contractor-issued travel card to be used for official business as a condition of employment. Those employees who enter on board and find that they are unable to obtain a card based on their credit history or who do not retain their card during employment may be subject to removal from the Federal service.
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications
To qualify at the FV-G level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least three years of progressively responsible general experience that demonstrates the ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, recognize solutions, plan and organize work and convey information, with at least one year equivalent to the FG/GS-8 level.
Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work. Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical, or other responsible work may be qualifying as long as it provided evidence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) necessary to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Experience of a general clerical nature (typing, filing, routine procedural processing, maintaining records, or other non specialized tasks) is not creditable. Trades or crafts experience appropriate to the position to be filled may be creditable for some positions. Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: working with drug and alcohol testing programs.
EDUCATION:
To qualify based on education you must meet any of the criteria below:
Successful completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree;
OR,
1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic acheivement
OR,
master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR,
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR,
LL.B. or J.D., if related.
