About the Agency

The selectee for this position will serve as a ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA) in the FLEET AND FAMILY READINESS PROGRAM, MID-ATLANTIC FLEET AND FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM (FFSP) of NAVSTA GREAT LAKES IL.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

• Provide support for the Work and Family Life (WFL) function.
• Screen intake calls appropriately, schedule routine appointments for clients and convey information to clients.
• Make routine contacts with officials of other agencies in the community such as hospitals, local Veterans groups, and military.
• Review, revise, and maintain local standard operating procedures (SOPs) for grammar, punctuation, and administrative content.
• Perform timekeeping functions and advise managment and staff on procedures and regulations.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience.

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Communicating with customers and management to obtain information and explain regulations and procedures; 2) Operating a computer or word processor to create, edit, print, retrieve, or manipulate documents, charts, spreadsheets, and files; and 3) Using an office automated system to prepare correspondence, reports and other information. OR 4 years above high school OR combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

Requirements:
