This position is part of the Executive Office of the President, Office of the United States Trade Representatives. The EOP has responsibility for tasks ranging from communicating the President's message to the American people to promoting our trade interests abroad.

Duties

As a Trade Policy Research Assistant at the GS-0301-5/7/9, you will perform the following:
  • Incumbent assists higher level staff in the research, review, analysis, abstracting, and development of a variety of trade information, including: economic and trade data.
  • Assists higher-level staff in extracting and summarizing or abstracting pertinent trade and investment data, legislation, and analysis of policies and practices of countries. Prepares reports and briefing materials and using a variety of software, prepares presentations, charts, graphs, tables, etc. to be used by the AUSTR and/or senior staff members within and outside the office for the development of policy and implementation and enforcement of trade agreements.
  • Analyzes problems, issues, or program requirements relevant to the assigned area of trade. Determines pertinent issues and collects relevant information and country specific data from a variety of sources. Reviews information and applies standard analytical techniques to develop recommendations and proposals.
  • Assists staff by providing administrative support duties including receiving telephone calls and visitors, maintaining supervisor's calendar, arranging meetings, and making travel arrangements.
