About the Position: This position is located in the In-Flight Interceptor Communications System (IFICS) Data Terminal (IDT) Complex.
Note: This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of violence to ship, transport, possess or receive firearms or ammunition. Civilian personnel of the Department of Defense are not exempt from this provision. Therefore, as a condition of employment, the selectee will be required to sign the DD Form 2760 acknowledging understanding of this provision.
Note: As required by 5 U.S.C. 3310 and 5 CFR 330.401, guard positions are restricted to preference eligible. Nonveterans may be appointed to guard positions only if no qualified preference eligible are available. If you are entitled to veteran's preference you must provide appropriate document(s) to support your claim.
**This is an obligated position****You will be required to sign an agreement acknowledging the fact that you are aware of the obligation and accept the fact that you may be displaced.

Duties
You will perform security guard duties to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage, espionage, and enforce the security regulations of the installation. As a Security Guard, you will provide access control of vehicles and pedestrians to the IDT Complex, based on an approved limited access roster and/or appropriate restricted area access badges. You will verify identification through use of identification cards, badges, biometrics, automated records, vehicle decals, verbal questioning, and other means. As required by instructions or force protection level, you will conduct vehicle searches/inspections (to include cargo areas, engine compartments, and undercarriages), in accordance with standing operating procedures; confiscating unauthorized or otherwise controlled items, and detaining those suspected of criminal or other illegal activity. You will question suspicious persons and warn or detain violators of laws, regulations, policies, and rules or posted warnings. You will conduct armed foot patrol of IDT Complex perimeter; interior and exterior of restricted areas to inspect for security violations. Log and report accidents and render first aid to the injured commensurate with training certification. You will identify and report security violations. You may be required to serve as a first responder in case of fire, accident, medical emergency or criminal/terrorist incident.
