Work Environment: The employee works in an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office setting and observes normal safety practices.
This is a career-ladder position with the potential to the GS08 level. At the GS05 through GS07 levels, the incumbent will perform progressively more difficult duties at a reduced level of responsibility while receiving on the job and other appropriate training that will prepare him/her for promotion to the next higher grade level.

Duties
The responsibilities of this position involve auditing oil and gas leases to ensure production accountability. The incumbent verifies and accounts for production volumes produced and removed from oil and gas leases, and ensures production identified accountability issues are resolved. At the full performance level the incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:
- Applying Federal Oil and Gas regulations governing mineral development and production.
- Reviewing and analyzing information obtained from various sources to verify the accuracy of the operator’s Oil and Gas Operations Report (OGOR).
- Plans and conducts surveys and resurveys involving problems of substantial variety and complexity.
- Serves as a liaison between the minerals staff, law enforcement staff, inter-agency auditors, investigators, and industry representatives who may become involved in mineral resource investigations.
- Calculating oil and gas volumes which are misreported and/or recoverable and providing guidance on further action.
- Conducting production accountability reviews on oil and gas leases, and other assignments.
- Prepare correspondence to oil and gas operators and other governmental agencies pertaining to production accountability.
- Using computer software programs to view various reports and develop statistics and spreadsheets.
