MedPAC Issues June Report

Last week, the the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) released its June 2017 Report to the Congress: Medicare and the Health Care Delivery System. The report covers many issues, including:

• implementation of a unified payment system for post-acute care;
• premium support in Medicare;
• the relationship between physician and other health care professional services and other Medicare services;
• redesign of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System; 
• strengthening advanced alternative payment models; 
• hospital and skilled nursing facility use by Medicare beneficiaries who reside in nursing facilities; and 
• provider consolidation and the role of Medicare policy.

MedPAC makes recommendations to Congress each year through multiple reports, which may or may not be acted upon. Congress is not required to act upon any of the recommendations.
