Duties


You will provide administrative and clerical support to the Lockmaster and assigned staff in the areas of purchasing, property control, personnel actions, data processing, reporting, and other project office operations. Serve as the primary project site employee responsible for the review and application of administrative guidelines necessary for project operations. Work is performed in support of a Lock and Dam Project.
The following tasks are representative of work performed by this position at a typical Lock and Dam facility:
GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE:  Perform general office management activities. Personally respond to routine mail. Prepare and produce other correspondence, forms, and reports based on rough drafts, notes, or oral instructions. Use word processing software to enter and retrieve data in computer data base, producing documents in final form. May prepare and maintain time and attendance and labor cost distribution reports. Processes project TDY orders.
PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACTING: Perform a variety of purchasing and property accounting activities. Process receipts, transfers, adjustments, disposals, and/or reports of survey of non-expendable property. Conduct periodic real property inventories. Assist the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) in administering the maintenance service contracts, prepares work orders and modifications.
PERSONNEL ISSUES: Assist the supervisor in preparation and maintenance of job descriptions, performance appraisals, awards nominations, and a variety of personnel forms. Provide answers and/or refers project employees to personnel specialists regarding questions concerning the various aspects of employment such as benefits, training, pay schedules, types of employment available, job openings, leave, equal opportunity employment, workman compensation, occupational health physical examinations, suggestions, and the Employee Assistance Program.
Schedules occupational health physical examinations and processes paperwork.
Performs duties of on-site Training Coordinator.
OPERATIONAL ASSISTANCE:  May provide operational assistance to the crew including the following: Obtains information regarding the size of tow, name and direction. May relay reason for holding vessel position or lock delay. Receive dam gate and hydro changes from adjacent installations and provides that information to person in charge of project operation for appropriate action.
