This position starts at a salary of $54,972 (GS-09) with promotion potential to the $103,639 (GS-12). Apply for this exciting opportunity to become a member of the Office of the Chief Component Human Capital Officer team within FEMA.

Promotion Potential: Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval.

EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

Duties



In this position, you will be a key member of the Staffing and Recruiting Branch within the Office of the Chief Component Human Capital Officer. If selected for this position, you will be responsible for a full range of recruitment and placement activities in support of management's goals to identify, attract, and retain high quality and diverse workforce that is capable of accomplishing FEMA's mission. Typical assignments include:
  • Developing innovative approaches and strategies to locate and identify highly qualified candidates from multiple sources for professional, highly specialized, and technical occupations.
  • Providing advisory services to managers, program offices and selecting officials on recruitment methods and practices; and researching and coordinating special events and recruitment alternatives for hard to fill positions.
  • Implementing, and providing operational procedures, guidance, and instruction for the competitive Delegated Examining (DEU) program.
  • Ensuring that delegated authorities used by the staff are in compliance with merit system statutes and regulations.
  • Providing guidance to managers on the procedural and regulatory requirements governing the internal and external hiring processes of Federal employees;
  • Corresponding with candidates regarding opportunities within FEMA and their application status.
