This announcement is issued under the direct-hire authority to recruit for positions for which there is a critical hiring need.

Duties
As a Contract Specialist GS 1102 9/11/12/13, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
- Performing or assisting in the full range of planning, directing and administration activities for the most complex and major acquisitions for internal customer specific requirements and department-wide mission requirements.
- Evaluating quotes, proposal and bids, performing cost/price analysis, obtaining audits and pricing reports, negotiating price and/or technical issues, and ensuring that contractors are eligible for award and prepares documentation.
- Performing contract administration functions, such as verifying invoices, contractor performance, evidence of contractor's progress, negotiating modifications, issuing termination notices, reviewing contract claims, and conducting all contract closeout procedures.
- Reviewing actions to ensure that they have been taken to safeguard the interest of the DHS in its contractual relationships.
