The HR Customer Services and Solutions group is currently accepting applications to fill up to 4 temporary positions at Acadia National Park. Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for rehire and/or extension (when initial appointment is less than 1039 hours) if workload and funding allow. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2017
Two duty locations (Mount Desert Island/Bar Harbor and the Schoodic District/Winter Harbor):
Acadia's main section of the park is located in Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island; is connected to the mainland by a short bridge and is 50 miles SE of Bangor. Local communities offer schools, grocery stores, health care facilities, banks and small businesses. With over two million visitors per year, the area is extremely busy in the summer. Almost unlimited recreational opportunities are offered year-round. The Schoodic District is located in Winter Harbor. This section of the park is 65 miles SE of Bangor and 50 miles from Acadia's main park's headquarters in Bar Harbor. Summer days in Winter Harbor can be cool and foggy as the ocean strongly influences the Schoodic Peninsula's. Local communities offer schools, a bank and small businesses. Acadia National Park protects more than 47,000 acres of stunning scenery, nationally-significant cultural resources and a wide variety of natural habitats along the rocky, mid-coast of Maine "where the mountains meet the sea." Temperatures range generally from under 10 degrees in the winter to 80 degrees in the summer, with the ocean influencing the park's character and weather. The local housing markets, especially seasonal rental properties, are somewhat limited. Housing on MDI may be expensive, more affordable housing options are available within 30 miles. Ellsworth (20 miles from MDI and 25 miles from Schoodic), and Bangor offer a broad range of amenities. Information at: www.nps.gov/acad/

shift functions, issues entrance receipts, tour tickets, park passes and federal recreation passes in
accordance with established guidelines, and verifies entrance receipts and various passes for validity

Incumbent completes shift reports to verify money collected, accountable stock sold and all machine
