The Naval Intelligence Community spans across many organizations that provide direct support to the Navy, Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and various Joint and Fleet Commands. The selectee for this position serves as an entry/developmental Security Specialist at the GG/09 grade level performing Special Security Officer (SSO) functions and tasks involving the implementation of (Physical, Personnel, Information) security programs with the objective of detecting and preventing security problems which might endanger the activity or service, its sensitive operations, or its classified information in accordance with Department of Navy and national security program requirements.
This position is located in San Diego, CA.

Duties

• Collaborate and learn to utilize technology in order to identify the design and working conditions of technology to protect the physical layout of facilities.
• Collect, review, interpret, evaluate and integrate security data from multiple sources to assess the relevance and significance of current or emerging security concepts, principles, practices and systems.
• Perform preliminary evaluation of relevant material as to its importance, and extract significant data pertaining to the assigned subject matter.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at the GG/GS-07 grade level in the federal government (or in the private or public sector) performing some or all of the following duties: 1)Identifying security gaps, specifies requirements to fill gaps, and evaluate data through security reviews and inspections. 2) Assisting in the security technology fields of intrusion detection systems, and access control systems. 3) Utilizing sound masking systems and external and internal closed circuit television (CCTV). 4) Certify member eligibility and produce badge associated with the access control system
OR
Hold a Master's Degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Selectee must complete a Special Background investigation and receive a favorable adjudication by a determining authority. A Top Secret security clearance is a requirement of this position and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to obtain and maintain this required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Non-DCIPS applicants selected for a DCIPS position must acknowledge in writing, prior to actual appointment to the DCIPS position, that the position for which he or she has been selected is in the excepted service and covered by DCIPS. Federal employees currently serving in the competitive service must also acknowledge that they will voluntarily leave the competitive service by accepting an offer of employment for a DCIPS position. This acknowledgement is necessary as movement between the excepted service and competitive service may be limited if the employee does not possess competitive status.
