Every day, our Mission Support Assistants (OA) maintains tracking systems of transactions, procure routine equipment and services, and maintain office files and records.
This position of MISSION SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA) starts at a salary of $37,457 GS-05 step 1 grade level, with promotion potential to$60,322 GS-07 step 10 grade level.

This position is not considered "essential" for purposes of reporting to work when the facility might otherwise be closed.
Relocation expenses are authorized if you are a USCIS employee assigned to the Refugee, Asylum and International Operations program and have been approved for rotation from an overseas assignment. Relocation expenses for USCIS employees assigned to an OCONUS location will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence, and limited complexity.

As a MISSION SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA), you will:

• Maintain tracking systems of transactions;
• Coordinate requests for services from users and complete necessary forms;
• Procure routine equipment and services;
• Maintain office files and records; and
• Prepare recurring reports.

• You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National to apply for this position.

Qualifications

GS-05: You qualify at the GS-05 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:

• Gathering data for routine reports
• Maintain transaction logs
• Maintain office files and records
• Ordering routine equipment and services
• Typing office documents, reviewing forms and other documents for completeness
• Preparing graphs and charts

OR
You may substitute successful completion of a Bachelor's degree or a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a Bachelor s degree for the experience required at the GS-05 level. This education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester or 45 quarter hours.

GS-06: In addition to the requirements at the lower grade level(s), you qualify at the GS-06 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:

• Preparing a variety of administrative program documents and reports
• Monitoring transactions
• Maintaining records
• Processing requests for services and resolving discrepancies
• Providing routine program information to users.

There is no educational substitution at this grade level.

GS-07: In addition to the requirements at the lower grade level(s), you qualify at the GS-07 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:

• Coordinating administrative requirements with offices served
• Maintaining contact with offices having primary responsibility for administrative programs and obtaining most up-to-date information on procedural requirements
• Providing procedural assistance on routine administrative matters
• Maintaining databases and identifying trends or patterns
• Compiling a variety of reports
