About the Position: The Philadelphia District manages the water resources of the 13,000 square-mile Delaware River Basin and the Atlantic Coast from New Jersey's Manasquan Inlet to the southern boundary of Delaware. Blue Marsh Lake is situated in Berks County, PA, five miles northwest of the City of Reading. Public transportation to the lake is not available. Moving expenses are not authorized. Duties
Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the operation and maintenance of physical plan facilities, project grounds, parks, wildlife areas and other public use facilities. Installs, modifies, maintains and repairs new and existing domestic water supply systems, waterborne toilets, pressurized sewage systems, drain fields, lift stations, drinking fountains, and hydrants. Patrols levees and interior drainage ditches inspecting and cleaning weeds and debris form culverts and pump plant intakes. Measures, cuts and constructs or makes carpentry repairs to steps, doors, windows. Ramps, picnic tables, walls, roofs and buildings and structures.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifications
Screen Out Element: To qualify for this position, your resume must indicate your overall knowledge, skills and ability and/or training to independently perform the duties of a Maintenance Worker, WG-4749-07, as stated in the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official.
Job Elements: In addition to the screen out element, applicants will be rated against the following elements:
· Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation and Repair
· Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
· Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (including blueprint reading)
· Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
· Knowledge of Materials Physical effort: Work requires a considerable amount of physical labor. Continuous walking, bending, stooping, climbing is required. The employee occasionally may lift and carry items that weigh up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Worker is subject to cuts, bruises, electrical shock, and falls. Works in all types of weather such as hot, cold, snow, ice and may be subjected to adverse weather conditions.

· Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

· Must obtain within 12 months of hiring a valid pesticide applicators license and maintain for the duration of employment in this position.
· Requires wearing a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers uniform.
· Position will occasionally involve working irregular shifts.
