These positions are temporary and have a Not-to-Exceed date. However, an extension of the appointment may be possible without further competition. The appointment may also end early due to lack of work or funds.
These positions are located at the Rocky Mountain Research Station in Fort Collins CO. The position is a primary resource for technical and scientific information services provided to all U. S. Forest Service employees. The position will assist in filling thousands of document requests for library customers.

The USDA Forest Service has legislative authority to recruit and fill Permanent (Career/Career- Conditional), Temporary, and Term Appointments under the USDA Demonstration Project. Under this authority, any U.S. citizen may apply.

Duties

Assists Document Delivery/ILL technician by locating requested materials from the National Forest Service Library collections and on-line resources. Downloads or copies articles and book chapters, and emails items to requestors. When necessary, retrieves requested material from nearby Libraries. Checks out and prepares loan documents for mailing. Fills tables of contents requests by downloading PDF’s from online resources or attaching links to reply emails.
Catalogs new material into the library’s integrated library system following National Forest Service Library cataloging rules and guidelines and other national standards.
Monitors checked out documents and sends overdue notices. Shelves/files new and returned library materials.
Assist with basic cataloging of new material as time allows.
Performs a variety of general library work.

• US Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National

Qualifications

You must possess the Basic Requirements identified below to be considered eligible for this position. Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education. Your application or resume must clearly show that you possess the appropriate experience requirements.
GS-4: (1) One year of general experience.
General experience is defined as: Library work or library volunteer experience or jobs as a receptionist, general office support, retail sales clerk, or other work experience, paid or unpaid, that demonstrates an ability to learn and perform the work of this position. -OR
Successful completion of 2 years of study above high school. -OR
A combination of education and experience listed above.
