About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 902D MI Group, 310th MI Battallion, Company A, Fort Meade MD.

Duties

• Serve as an Intelligence Assistant for the Freedom of Information/Privacy Office. Review intelligence, counterintelligence and security related information to open, close and out-process Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) cases by reviewing and analyzing intelligence, counterintelligence (CI) and security related information. Determine proper classification of security related information.
• Research intelligence, counterintelligence and security investigative records to support senior intelligence specialists.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.  Specialized experience is defined as: reviewing intelligence, counterintelligence, and/or security related information in order to make a determination as to the basic security classification and releasability of intelligence information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06/GG-06).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

• Knowledge of Freedom of Information Act/Privacy Act
• Skill in Providing Intelligence Mission Administrative Support
• Ability to Communicate Orally and in Writing
• NOTE: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency so long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower grade in the series.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.  For this job, you may qualify if your education meets one of the definitions below:
--At least 1 year or more of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a degree directly related to the position being filled. Education must be directly related to the position being filled. Examples of related degree programs in Intelligence, Security Studies and Analysis; International Affairs; Intelligence Analysis; etc.
OR
--Combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience described above may be used to meet total qualification requirements at the GG-07 level.
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience. Conditions of Employment:

• All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for access to sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
