Duties
The Health Aid position performs the duties in is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Southcentral Veterans Health Care System, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 16), Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System, Nutrition and Food Service (NFS), in New Orleans, Louisiana. These duties include, but are not limited to:
Work Schedule: Rotating shifts, nights, holidays and weekends: 6:00am - 8:00pm
Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized
Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required
- Extracts patients' diets and create reports needed for meal service from appropriate computer programs.
- Answers patient phone calls, enter meal orders into the computer software, amongst other necessary tasks.
- Communicates with Veterans, family members, medical providers, dietitians, supervisors, and other employees using strong listening and speaking skills.
- Contacts patients who have missed meals per NFS local policy.
- Processes tray ticket to ensure all inpatients receive a meal tray who are designated as non-select by their provider.
- Manages service recovery to troubleshoot any comments or concerns in regards totray service problems and clarification of diet orders by appropriately resolving when able orroutes to supervisor and/or ward dietitian.
- Collects assigned data as requested by Food Service Systems dietitian in quality assurance, dietetic management, and nutrition-related studies.
- Communicates with individuals from a variety of different backgrounds and disciplines following the NFS customer service standards.
