About the Agency

These positions are located in the National Marine Fisheries Services, Office of International Affairs and Seafood Inspection, in Gloucester, MA; Hollywood, FL; and Long Beach, CA.

This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal GS pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band.

The ZS-04 is equivalent to the GS-7/8.

Duties

The individual selected for this position will...
  • Provide customer support to industry participants in the Seafood Inspection Program by fielding phone calls, responding to emails, communicating and researching customer account issues in the online billing system, and providing outreach to customers as necessary using computer resources.
  • Serve as the primary travel administrator for the office, including preparation of travel reservations, authorize documents, and voucher, provide policy guidance on travel to regional employees in accordance with office policy and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Administrative Officer and other divisions regarding passports, visas and foreign travel requirements to maintain regional employee documentation.
  • Serve as the primary timekeeper for the office responsible for ensuring timely and accurate entry of time and attendance.
  • Provides periodic audits of leave balances and payroll.
  • Support leadership by providing policy to regional employees in accordance with office policy and procedures.
  • Serve as a government purchase cardholder supporting regional employees and leadership.
  • Complete micro-purchases of supplies and services, maintain purchase data records, complete account reconciliation, fulfill required purchase training, and update supply and service source data.
  • Maintain and revise the office filing system in accordance with established records management schedules.
  • Collect program information from technical specialists, enters it into electronic or manual information systems, and searches for it as requested.
  • Enter and retrieve information from a variety of systems.
  • Help regional employees to use the various computer systems.
  • Track personnel, supply, and other administrative transactions as the documentation flows through the office in both electronic form and on paper.
  • Receive, log, route and review all incoming correspondence, performing follow-up to ensure timely action.
