This position is located in Region 6, Recovery Division, in Baton Rouge, LA Mission Support Bureau (MSB), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In this position you will serve as the office administrator, performing a wide range of clerical and administrative duties to support office and personnel staff. This position starts at a salary of $40,684 (IC-07).

EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

This position is being announced under FEMA's Cadre of On-call Response/Recovery Employee (CORE) Program. This is a temporary appointment in the Excepted Service, not to exceed 2 years, with the option to extend based on workload and funding availability. Veterans Preference does not apply to the CORE selection process.

Duties

In this position, you will serve as the office administrator, performing a wide range of clerical and administrative duties to support office and personnel staff. Typical assignments include:
  • Serves as an administrator processing incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memorandums, letters and other written communications.
  • Severs independently to schedule the Senior Staff member’s appointments and coordinates and/or schedules meetings and conferences.
  • Serves as an administrator that evaluates and makes recommendations on administrative and clerical procedures.
  • Serves as an expert using computer databases and spreadsheet software, Microsoft Office, and technical duties and responsibilities.
  • Performs excellent customer service skills to include but not limited to: handling incoming calls, maintaining office files and records, and establishing a comprehensive filling system.
  • Serves a Timekeeper using WebTA, to include review and validation of timesheets.
