TYPING REQUIREMENT: This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Answering inquiries, directing visitors and callers, screening and routing correspondence and reports, coordinating timekeeping reporting and certifications, locating files or information as needed and continuously coordinating the work of a department.
- Maintaining records of scheduled meetings and daily calendars for supervisors, rescheduling meetings as required, and responding to requests for information.
- Setting up and maintaining planning department files and records such as technical instructions, personnel actions, correspondence files, internal operations procedures, report files, all tracking logs, department ticklers on incoming and outgoing correspondence, and action documents.
- Performing typing of numerous documents, including work requests, letters, messages, reports, award letters, personnel actions, instructions/notes, supply orders, etc.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Four (4) years successfully completed education above high school level that was obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
