Duties

This position is located at VCS Central Office, Finance Center, St. Louis, MO. You will serve as a Transportation Assistant responsible for providing and coordinating travel arrangements for VCS travelers and special guests. Coordination may involve individual or group travel arrangements, researching and selecting the most economic mode of transportation.

VCS is a non-appropriated funded retail organization with 180 retail locations throughout the United States. The volume of travel is significantly high among senior VCS staff officials, region managers, consultants, and store managers. Incumbent must be able to manage a multitude of priorities effecting timely and accurate travel transactions.

These duties may include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Provides information and guidance to travelers relative to procedures involved in travel for official business.
• Prepares travel orders, plans and schedules trips and itineraries involving multi-stops, side trips and group travel.
• Coordinates with travel agents, carriers, hotels, etc. to secure reservations, tickets and itineraries.
• Responds to last minute or emergency situations requiring travel orders and/or clarification as to an individual's travel status and/or travel adjustments.
• Reconciles general ledger travel advance account monthly with subsidiary records to ensure accuracy.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Qualifications

To apply for this position, you must have the following qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: coordinates individual and group travel arrangements, selecting most economic modes of transportation; prepares various reports to account for approved travel expenses; controls travel advances to ensure funds are deducted from travel payments or reimbursed by employees; reconciles general ledger advance account to subsidiary records to ensure total amount of outstanding advances is accurate; assists customers with completing travel vouchers, travel requests, adjusting itineraries, etc.

You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:
