About the Position:The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.
Tooele Army Depot is located approximately 45 miles West of Salt Lake City, Utah.  The Depot is in Tooele County and surrounded by the communities of Tooele, Grantsville, Stockton, and Rush Valley. The area surrounding the depot is as an urban center for a highly varied and productive agriculture industry. The Depot is 42,974 acres and currently serves the missions of conventional ammunition storage, maintenance, demilitarization, and ammunition peculiar equipment. The Depot was constructed in 1942 in an area with a historical tradition of Indian cultures. Originally the Depot was known as the Tooele Ordnance Depot, which functioned as a storage depot for World War II supplies, ammunition, and combat vehicles. Currently, the Depot has a maintained the certification of ISO 9001:2000, incorporated the LEAN and Six Sigma structure, and are ready for new missions for not only the Army, But all services of Department of Defense, and partnerships with private industry.

Duties

As a Supply Technician you will:

• Conduct extensive reviews of the overall ammunition inventory system to isolate and evaluate various inventory errors.
• Prepare reports of findings, and develops modified procedures to take corrective action.
• Prepare recommendations to higher headquarters to improve the overall ammunition data systems program.
• Perform quality control reviews in the areas of ammunition receipt processing, location survey, physical inventory counts, material release denials, record adjustments, depot location input, catalog changes, and program changes by conducting quality control audits using random sample techniques on ammunition functions.
• Reject or accept ammunition samples audited. When the number of errors found indicates the sample must be rejected, the entire lot will be forwarded to the applicable functional areas for 100% rework.
• Inform managers via oral and written communication of the problems encountered that are causing the errors in ammunition inventory effectiveness and accountability.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: using standardized supply regulations, policies and/or procedures to resolve supply discrepancies. Experience using automated supply systems to enter, correct, and/or retrieve recurring reports and prepare other supply documents, and ensuring all shipping documents are complete.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

• KNOWLEDGE OF AMMUNITION SUPPLY OPERATIONS SUPPORT
• KNOWLEDGE OF AMMUNITION SUPPLY REGULATIONS, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
• KNOWLEDGE OF AUTOMATED SUPPLY SYSTEMS

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.  For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

• Possess one academic year of graduate education (18 semester hours) from a nationally accredited university and directly related to Supply Management. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification)
• Or a combination of less than one year specialize experience at the GS-06 and more than 9 semester hours of graduate education directly related to Supply Management. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification)

Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute for experience.
