This is a full-time, temporary appointment not to exceed 1040 hours with the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, in St. Marks, Florida. This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 1040 hours in a service year. Incumbent may be rehired non-competitively in subsequent years as long as 1040 hours has not been exceeded in the previous year.

Duties
Direct a YCC crew and/or group engaged in a wide variety of work projects. Work includes trail/road maintenance, fence repair, brush clearing, basic construction and carpentry, general cleanup activities.
Oversee the day-to-day activities of the group to ensure enrollee safety and maintain order and discipline.
Assist in the educational portion of the enrollees work day by making presentations and demonstrating environmentally sound work methods.

Qualifications
By the closing date of this announcement, you must meet the minimum qualification requirements as outlined in this announcement below. Minimum Qualifications for the 0186 Occupational Series at the GS-5 grade level:
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. This experience may include: knowledge of practical methods and techniques of training and counseling; experience as a monitor, leader, supervisor, or instructor in organized work, recreation, educational, or residential situations; ability to instruct others in proper work methods; skill in basic first aid, and skill in operating motor vehicles. OR
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that included a major in social behavior, human behavior, health care or a similar field. OR
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of subjects directly related to the work of the position. Transcripts: You must submit a copy of your transcripts (official or unofficial photocopy) to document your educational accomplishments. Failure to submit this documentation by the closing date will result in disqualification from further consideration. Official transcripts will be required if you are selected to fill the position. College transcripts are still required if you currently occupy or previously occupied the series for which you are applying. Incumbent must be able to operate a government-owned or leased motor vehicle. A valid state driver's license is required.
Must be able to frequently lift and carry parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally over 20 pounds.
This positions sensitivity level has been designated as non-sensitive. Accordingly, the selectee must undergo a background investigation prior to appointment. No PCS/moving benefits are authorized.
Completion of a 1-year probationary period is required (if one has not yet been completed).
Work schedule may be changed 90 days after hire at the request of management or the employee with management approval.
