This position is located at the Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center, Primary Care, Fort Meade, Maryland. Fort Meade, MD consists of 5,415 acres with 65.5 miles of paved roads, 3.3 miles of secondary roads, and about 1,300 buildings. There is a modern exchange mall, bank, credit union, post office, chapels and many other facilities. Ft Meade's climate is warm during summer when temperatures tend to be in the 70's, and very cold during winter when temperatures tend to be in the 30's. Duties
You will serve as a Security Assistant with technical functional authority for all security clearances for healthcare personnel at Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center. You will apply knowledge of specific clearance requirements to ensure applicants are screened for proper level of clearance and eligibility to continue to in-process. Upon clearance acceptance, you will prepare documentation to obtain security clearance from the granting agency. Prepare End of Month reports reflecting numbers of investigations processed and accepted by OPM and provide recommendations for corrective action or improvement in related process actions and procedures.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: utilizing a personal computer to produce a variety of documents in different formats and to revise/update personnel security databases; applying personnel security directives, regulations, precedents, guidelines, and procedures to complete clearance paperwork; making security determinations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
. Knowledge of Specific Clearance Requirements
. Skill in making Security Determinations based on derogatory information
. Skill in carrying out support tasks related to Security Administration
. Ability to communicate orally
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
NOTE: Education is not creditable, however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.

This position requires pre-employment and random drug testing.
Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is NOT authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. If selected, you must pay your own way to the new job. If, upon reporting to work, you are found ineligible for the job for any reason, you must pay your own expenses to return to your home. No relocation expenses will be paid by the Government.
Defense National Relocation Program will NOT be authorized. Participation in this program is not authorized. No relocation expenses will be paid by the Government.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Position is designated non-critical sensitive as defined in DoD 5200.2-R. This requires that a personnel security investigation be adjudicated on a pre-appointment basis which may take up to 90 days or longer to process. The selectee may be allowed to start work prior to adjudication if management approved. Obtaining and maintaining a secret security clearance is a condition of employment. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly.
