Conditions of Employment:
You must be willing and able to maintain good academic standing, academic course load, and continuous progress and proficiency in on-the-job learning and classroom training as prescribed in the four year apprentice program and respective trade. Each apprentice is required to receive related classroom and on-the-job training under the supervision of a journey level trades person. Classroom hours will be accomplished at local community colleges and training facilities during off duty hours, 2 to 3 nights per week, for the duration of the four year apprenticeship program. AND You must be willing and able to sign a two-year agreement to work within the Federal service for two years after completion of the four year apprenticeship program.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Requirements:

-Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
-Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
-Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
-Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
-Subject to mandatory call to duty at any hour of the day or night to restore critical equipment to proper operating condition to perform work essential to the activity.
-Physical Effort: Incumbent may handle or carry weights up to 40 pounds and occasionally more.
-Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions, and climbing.
-Incumbent is required to work outdoors 20% of the time, sometimes in extreme cold and hot weather conditions. Is exposed to noise vibration, wood dust, dirt, dampness and occasionally to poor illumination when building repairing structures. Frequently, works at high elevation from ladders and staging. May be exposed to unpleasant odors and noxious fumes.
