Duties

As a CIS Clerk (OA), you will:

• Conducting sensitive file reviews with numerous Federal, state and local agencies and preparing case file records and related documents to be routed to other offices.
• Searching for missing files/records and placing loose documents into appropriate case files.
• Performing general mail handling and distribution including sorting, opening, date stamping, classifying, processing, and routing.
• Preparing, maintaining, and submitting statistical and required reports to supervisor.
• Using computer record systems for searching, creating and updating information.

• You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National to apply for this position.

Qualifications

GS-05: You qualify at the GS-05 level you must possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to the GS-04 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:

• Reviewing applications for accuracy, validity, and proper form and format;
• Using various computer software programs to produce office support materials; and,]
• Setting up and maintaining subject matter files, technical instructions, and/or operating procedures.

OR

• You may substitute successful completion of 4 years of education above high school for the experience required at the GS-5 level. This education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester or 45 quarter hours.

Typing: You must be able to type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

General Office Skills: You must possess knowledge of general office automation software, practices and procedures.

Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas.
