Duties
The Washington Operations Center (WOC) maintains situational awareness of the air domain community and provides information for mission and decision support.
The incumbent serves as a member of a watch standing shift that operates on a 24-hour, 7-day per week basis. As such, he/she is responsible for collecting and analyzing information on the status of operations in the National Airspace System (NAS), such as: facility outages; accidents; security incidents; severe weather; and all occurrences that may affect the operating status of aviation worldwide.
As necessary, composes summaries and provides verbal briefings to be delivered to the Secretary of Transportation, the Administrator/Deputy Administrator, key officials, and other national operations centers. In situations demanding immediate decision or action until communications can be established, provides or coordinates support required by the Office of Primary Responsibility. Maintains operational readiness of the facility. Serves as liaison with counterparts of other Federal agencies and departments, and national operations centers. Participates in the National Level Exercise (NLE) and augments the agency Continuity of Operations (COOP) cadre.
Work performed at this level requires technical expertise on complex systems and /or emerging technology, knowledge of systems interrelationships and management of the National Airspace System (NAS).

Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED experience equivalent to the next lower grade/pay band (FG/GS-12/FV-H) in the Federal Government or non-Federal equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is typically in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as:
experience utilizing communications and information systems within the National Airspace System (NAS);
experience collecting information from multiple sources simultaneously to validate and provide context during critical incidents and national security emergencies; and
experience composing and delivering briefings to internal and external government and national security organizational partners.
