Responsibilities
This position is within the Veteran Transportation Service at the VA Medical Center, Columbus, OH. The primary purpose of this position is to collaborate with the Veteran Transportation Services Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation and ongoing operational flow of the Veteran Transportation Services program. Your duties can include but are not limited to the following:
Collects, compiles, and tracks data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS).
Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
Collates in-coming data from a variety of sources.
Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system.
Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, clinic trends, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday - 8am to 4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required

Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
May be required to serve a probationary period.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: You will be exposed to stressful working situations that will require a mature attitude and collective reasoning to overcome. The incumbent is subject to a great deal of stress because of the high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever changing demands due to program changes.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Your duties will be predominantly performed in the Veteran Transportation Service program office with intermittent trips to various locations throughout the Medical Center's catchment area both in and near patient care areas where there is a prevalent risk of exposure to disease.
Participation in the seasonal influenza program is a condition of employment and a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). HCP are individuals who, during the influenza season, work in VHA locations where patients receive care or who come into contact with VA patients as part of their duties. VHA locations include, but are not limited to, VA hospitals and associated clinics, community living centers (CLCs), community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs), domiciliary units, Vet centers and VA-leased facilities. HCP include all VA licensed and unlicensed, clinical and administrative, paid and unpaid, full- and part-time employees, intermittent employees, fee basis employees, VA contractors, students, researchers, volunteers, and trainees who work at these facilities.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: MUST possess one (1) year of specialized experience equipped with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Transportation Assistant position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS 5 grade level in Federal Service. Specialized experience includes: working experience in a transportation service within a medical center environment; collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information; performing basic analysis of the data and generating a variety of reports; collating in-coming data from a variety of sources; reviewing documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate; entering pertinent information into an automated tracking system; maintaining automated system of program-specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, clinic trends, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc. (This experience must be documented in your resume)

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
